TLC Education Group has a number of tutoring centres. Some are based in schools, and some in private premises. Students are taught at the centres on a weekly basis.
Free assessment
Phone or email your nearest TLC centre to book a free assessment. We ensure this is a relaxed, positive experience. This gives us a chance to uncover your child’s strengths and weaknesses.
Students may have assessments in English and maths.
We will then discuss the assessments with you, and if you wish to book lessons for your child, we will find a time that suits.

Lessons
Each lesson lasts for 1 hour 20 minutes. During that time we will look to cover at least six objectives. These are initially taken from the assessment, but as lessons progress, other skill gaps will be found and added to the programme of study.
Lessons contain a maximum of four other pupils, but there is no group work. Each student has their own individual programme of study.
Maths lessons
We look to cover at least six objectives per lesson.
We use a variety of educational software, combined with books and worksheets.
When students, using our bespoke TLC Education learning software, give three wrong answers, the computer will freeze and ask for a password. This ensures that students are constantly being helped by the teacher.
Students learn in different ways, so we adapt our programmes of study to suit each learning style.
We issue regular assessments to measure progress and to identify skill gaps.
English lessons
We look to cover at least six objectives per lesson.
We cover all aspects of both English language and English literature.
Some students find it helpful to develop their writing skills by using a bespoke TLC Education writing frame. These are constantly updated to include topical events. Excellent examples of pupils’ work are used as a framework to help other pupils.
We use a variety of educational software, combined with books and worksheets.
We issue regular assessments to measure progress and to identify skill gaps.
Subjects
Students can study a mixture of English and maths in our lessons until they reach year 10. Students in years 10 and 11 need to study English and maths separately.
Cost of lessons
Sessions at our tutoring centres cost £25 – £27 per lesson.
Payment is taken in blocks of four sessions.
A registration fee of one lesson is taken.
Lessons can be paid for by cash, cheque, credit or debit card using Paypal or by standing order.
TLC tutors
All our tutors are fully qualified or in their third year of teacher training. All staff have an enhanced CRB check.
