Pinpointing student needs – the TLC assessment
The first stage in building an individual learning programme for each student is the TLC assessment.
The TLC assessment consists of a range of standardised tests, diagnostic tools and personal interviews, and helps us to accurately pinpoint your child’s academic strengths and weaknesses.
We review the results with you and use them to build an individual learning plan for your child.
Individual learning programmes
Every child is different, with unique needs and learning styles which is why all students at TLC work to their own bespoke learning programme. The programmes are regularly reviewed, and students reassessed, so that they can be updated when necessary. Students move through the programme at their own pace and only proceed to a new skill once the previous one has been fully mastered.
Personal attention from fully qualified teachers
Unlike many tutoring companies TLC only hires fully qualified teachers to teach students. We believe that only professionally-trained and fully-qualified teachers will be able to bring the most out of your child.
However, being fully qualified is not the only requirement; TLC teachers are chosen for their caring nature and because they display a passion for teaching.
The cycle of confidence and success
Mastering a skill that has previously proved difficult helps a child feel good about themselves and really boosts their confidence. This confidence and positive attitude leads to more success which in turn boosts confidence; it is a key part of any TLC programme.
Regular feedback for parents and students
We regularly re-test our students to ensure that they have retained what has been taught. The regular tests also allow us to fine tune the programme, to identify areas that we may need to cover in more depth, or areas that the student now finds quite easy. Parents are given feedback on a regular basis so they know exactly how their child is progressing.
